As we kicked off 2018 in style, let’s take a look at which celebs got engaged in 2017 and thus… which lucky girls got some huuuuuuuge stunners on their fingers. Cause even though we’ll probably never be able to afford those rocks, a little window shopping couldn’t hurt!
THE engagement of the year was undoubtably that of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle last May. A whirlwind fairytale with a ring, with its own fairytale. It’s not just a ring... Prince Harry designed the trilogy ring himself. (AAAAAAWWWWW) And if that wasn’t enough, each of the diamonds has a treasured memory! The ring features a large central diamond flanked by two smaller stones set on a gold band. The central diamond is from Botswana, a place that is considered very special to the couple – Prince Harry previously admitted the continent is the place "where I feel more like myself than anywhere else in the world".. The two smaller diamonds he specifically chose from his late mother’s, Princess Diana, personal collection.

Playing onscreen husband and wife seems to be a key to success when you want to get married. ‘Revenge’ actress Emily VanCamp got engaged to ‘Revenge’ costar and onscreen husband Josh Bowman. He swept her of her feet with a gorgeous 5-carat solitaire diamond ring. The show got cancelled after 4 seasons but I’m pretty sure they’ll make it a lot longer!
Speaking of popular TV-shows, 2017 was a dazzling year for 2 ‘Pretty Little Liars’ actresses. Janel Parrish (a.k.a. Mona) went for a stroll with her longtime boyfriend Chris Long and came back with a radiant-cut sparkler in a rose-gold, diamond-encrusted band.
Another pretty little bride to be is costar Holly Marie Combs (Ella Montgomery, Aria’s mom). The former ‘Charmed’ actress showed her magical ring, a marquise-cut diamond surrounded by a halo and pave diamond on a platinum band, on Instagram. This will be her third marriage, third time’s a charm right?
That must have been the same thing Paris Hilton was thinking when she got engaged for the third time in December. The lucky guy? Actor Chris Zylka. He proposed with a 20-carat pear-shaped diamond, sitting on a platinum split shank halo band including two carats worth of smaller diamonds, making it a ring of at least 2 million dollars.
Peanuts… compared to the 5 million ring ex-fiancé Paris Latsis gave her in 2005. Technically, she had to give it back as she ended the engagement. However, Latsis refused, so she auctioned the ring with proceeds going to the Hurricane Katrina victims. Nice gesture from Paris in Paris… eeeeuuuuhhhmm Paris AND Paris! sorry!
‘The big bang theory’ actress Kaley Cuocu got her first engagement ring in 2013 from tennis player Ryan Sweeting but the couple divorced in 2015. I assume she still has the ring, after all, she did marry the guy so than the ring is yours… no? Anyway, Kaley found love again, and got engaged to equestrian Karl Cook, who proposed to her on her 32th birthday with a multi-carat pear-shaped diamond set on a reverse-graduated pavé diamond band.
And what about the sparklr on Danish tennis player Caroline Wozniacki’s finger! Boyfriend and NBA player David Lee got on his knee with an 8.88-carat oval shaped ring, (8 is her favorite number). This too is her second engagement ring as she was about to tie the knot with golfer Rory McIlroy in 2015. However, he broke off the engagement a day after the invitations were sent!!! So even if they didn’t make it to the altar, in my opinion, it’s only fair she got to keep the ring, after him being such a complete jerk… right? We’re happy you found your happy!!
But let’s stay positive and thank former cyclist Lance Armstrong for popping the question to girlfriend Anna Hansen after nearly a DECADE of dating and having two kids together!! Say what?? Yep… that’s how long it took him, but he made up for it with a stunning diamond sparklr. So for all the unmarried ladies waiting for their boyfriend (and maybe already father of their kid(s)) to get down on one knee (not talking about myself whatsoever) … there’s hope!
And hope is also the word for all the lovely single ladies reading this! Cause after only about a year of dating (he moves a wee bit faster than old Lance), Joe Jonas proposed to ‘Game of Thrones’ actress Sophie Turner. She flashed a dazzling 3-carat pear-shaped diamond rock set in a unique double band, both encrusted with more diamonds. A style we don’t see often which makes her engagement ring extra special.
So to all the single ladies… who knows what might happen in the next few months… it might only take a year! (Unless you find yourself a Lancie of course…)
We noticed more people are choosing yellow-gold again and a halo setting is still very popular as well as a pavé band. Just so you know which ideas you should put in his head...
